Those anticipating the forthcoming Prime Video series Swarm have been gifted a first look. Released Friday, the trailer gives a glimpse of the dark side of fandom.
In the clip, viewers are introduced to Dominique Fishback‘s character, Dre, “a young woman obsessed with the world’s biggest pop star who sets off on an unexpected cross-country journey.”
That journey includes a murderous streak, as she sets out to not only be more like her idol, singer Ni’Jah, but to one day meet her.
“She is not like everybody else. She knows what we’re thinking and gives it a name. She’s a goddess,” says Dre, who operates the singer’s fan account on Twitter.
Swarm, inspired Beyoncé and her loyal Beyhive fanbase, was created by Janine Nabers and Donald Glover, who also executive produce the show. The series stars Chlöe as Dre’s sister, Marissa, and Snowfall‘s Damson Idris as Marissa’s boyfriend, Khalid, as well as Rickey Thompson, Paris Jackson, Rory Culkin, Kiersey Clemons and Byron Bowers.
Swarm is set to premiere on March 17.
