Whatta treat! Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue to perform at 2018 Billboard Music Awards

by

Dick Clark ProductionsTwo legendary groups — Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue — are performing together at this year’s Billboard Music Awards.

Salt-N-Pepa’s appearance comes in celebration of a milestone: the 30th anniversary of SaltPepa and DJ Spinderella becoming the first female rap act to crack the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with their hit “Push It” in 1988.

In an official statement, Salt-N-Pepa says, “Thirty years later, we’re still pushing it all over the world and we’re still loved and celebrated by fans we grew up with as well as new fans.”

“Looking back at all the barriers we’ve broken as women in this very male-dominated genre of music, being the first two female rappers to break the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 is right up there as one of the best moments of our amazing career,” they add.

“We are blessed.”

As for En Vogue, the iconic trio released their latest disc Electric Cafe in April.

The album is their seventh studio project and their first effort in fourteen years.

Last year, Billboard ranked En Vogue as one of the top ten girl groups of all time, at number nine.

You can watch Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue tear up the stage at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards May 20 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.

No word on what they’ll be performing, but no doubt the two acts’ 1993 duet “Whatta Man” will be part of the segment.
