R. Kelly Contracts Covid-19 in Jail, Wins Two-Week Extension to File Appeal

by

R Kelly

R. Kelly’s lawyers have asked that his post-trial hearing be delayed due to the singer being sick from COVID and it is just being reported that the judge has agreed.  Attorney Jennifer Bonjean had asked U.S. District Judge Ann Donnelly Tuesday for a two-week extension until Feb. 17 to file Kelly’s post-trial motions and that’s is what’s going to happen.  Right now, R Kelly has to concentrate on getting well.  If he has been in isolation, how and who could he have gotten COVID from.

He is being held at MDC in Brooklyn until sentencing in his child pornography, racketeering, and sexual abuse case. Visits to Kelly were suspended a month ago and he is currently unable to speak by phone.

Bonjean says it’s important for Kelly to be involved in post-trail defense. She revealed Kelly released his trial team.

The singer is facing twenty years for his New York charges, Kelly is expected to face charges in Chicago in August, he also has cases in Minnesota. Kelly has been in jail since 2019.
