As the COVID-19 cases increase in Texas, the next question is who will be taking the vaccine first? Advisors with the CDC made a recent vote in allowing all health care personnel and residents at long-term care facilities to be the first population to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, once FDA approved. Recently our Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson sent a request on behalf of residents in the “hit hard” areas by the pandemic, to fight for their chance of taking the vaccine after health care workers, and first responders. Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins has officially detailed a quick timeline for a vaccine rollout soon to come. In the month of December, Texas will begin with nursing home residents and health care workers. Come January, all elderly at high risk, and then on to prioritizing those zip codes mostly affected by COVID-19.
