It pays to not be a judge on American Idol. Just ask Jennifer Hudson.
The season-three finalist had been rumored to be in the mix for one of the open judges’ slots on the Fox competition. In fact, The Hollywood Reporter says, she had a commitment with the network, but producers backed away from her when Jennifer Lopez became a viable option.
As a result, J-Lo and Harry Connick Jr. will join the returning Keith Urban on the panel for Idol‘s 13th season, while J-Hud will continue her career as an award-winning singer and actress. But don’t feel too badly for her — according to the Hollywood Reporter, Fox cut J-Hud loose by reportedly giving her about two million dollars. Not too shabby.
J-Lo, meanwhile, will reportedly make 15 million bucks for her work on the upcoming season of Idol, which begins in January.
