Leigh Vogel-Pool/Getty ImagesChrisette Michele has will perform during this Friday’s 58th Presidential Inauguration, sources told the New York Daily News.
The paper reports that Michele signed up for the gig a week ago, but kept the news “a big secret” because her “camp feared” the backlash that would come as a result of the artist’s involvement in the ceremony for President-elect Donald Trump.
Sources also revealed to the News that inauguration organizers first tapped Chrisette to sing the Grammy-nominated track “Intentional,” with gospel vocalists Travis Greene, Tye Tribbett and Jonathan McReynolds at the event.
However, when two of the three singers declined their invitation, Michele decided to stay on board, as long as she “could perform an R&B set.”
The “Unbreakable” singer joins Greene, country stars Toby Keith and Lee Greenwood, legendary soul singer Sam Moore, rock outfit 3 Doors Down, Jackie Evancho, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and The Radio City Rockettes on the list of artists slated to perform during Trump’s inauguration weekend.
