The mother of late R&B star Aaliyah is speaking out amid allegations made in Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly documentary, based on claims by a former member of his entourage.
In the first episode of Surviving, airing Thursday at 9 p.m., former backup singer/dancer Jovante Cunningham gives a tearful interview claiming that she once witnessed Kelly have sex with underaged Aaliyah on a tour bus full of entourage members.
Aaliyah’s mother Diane Haughton took to social media on the official Aaliyah Twitter account, denying the allegation that any such thing could have happened.
“My husband and I were always on tour with [Aaliyah] and at interviews and every place she went throughout her entire career,” the statement reads. “Whoever this woman is [who is making the allegations], I have never seen her before anywhere on planet earth, until now.”
A SIX part Lifetime documentary on this brother, R. Kelly, who was a monster! I GET IT! Hey Hollywood, can we give Oprah, or Will Smith this much TV doc-time & attention? How about a 6 part documentary on Whoopi … ?

Anyone on your timeline who still supports #RKelly after this #SurvivingRKelly documentary on @LifetimeTV should immediately be unfollowed & unfriended. Clearly, they themselves may have pedophile & predator tendencies! #MuteRKelly #Lifetime #BlackGIRLSmatter

YIKES: Diddy was TWENTY FOUR when his son #JustinCombs was born. The mother #MisaHylton was SIXTEEN when she gave birth so how long were they involved before hand? #RKelly #BlackTwitter #TeenMom #ChildRape #diddy #KimPorter pic.twitter.com/5FWqUGpKOq
