Chance the Rapper has removed R. Kelly collaboration from streaming platforms

by

ABC/Randy HolmesChance the Rapper is further distancing himself from R. Kelly by pulling their collaboration “Somewhere in Paradise” from certain streaming services.

As of Tuesday, the 2015 effort is no longer available on Spotify, Apple Music or Tidal. However, the single remains on SoundCloud.

The purging of the Jeremih-assisted track arrives in the wake of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly expose, a documentary which details the decades-long allegations of sexual and psychological abuse against the singer.

Chance voiced his disapproval of Kelly during the film, in a brief clip of an interview with culture critic Jamilah Lemieux

“Making a song with R. Kelly was a mistake,” the rapper told Lemieux, before expressing regret that he did not take the numerous accusations against Kelly more seriously. Chance later tweeted an apology “to all of [Kelly’s] survivors for working with him.”

The Coloring Book lyricist joins Lady Gaga and, reportedly, Celine Dion, as artists who have also pulled their collaborations with Kelly from streaming services.

More recently, Post Malone voiced his thoughts on the actions being taken by fellow artists. The “Sunflower” rapper told TMZ that he agrees “it’s the right thing to do.”
