In a statement posted to both her Twitter and Instagram accounts, the Destiny’s Child member writes, “For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it’s time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your well being.”

She goes on: “I recently listened to the same advice I have given to thousands around the world and sought help from a great team of healthcare professionals.”

“Today I proudly, happily and healthily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for the betterment of those in need,” the statement says, ending with, “If you change your mind, you can change your life.”

A message left with her Williams’ manager seeking details was not immediately answered.

Although Williams doesn’t provide further details, TMZ reports she checked herself into a mental health facility located “just outside of Los Angeles.”

Williams, who turns 38 this coming Monday, first revealed her struggles with depression in an interview with The Talk in 2017, admitting she felt suicidal at times, particularly during the peak of Destiny’s Child’s success.
