Tommy Garcia/FOXLee Daniels‘ musical drama Star just got an upgrade.
Fox announced today that it’s ordered five more episodes of the hit series, bringing the episode count up to 18.
Star will now match Fox’s Wednesday night lead-in drama, Empire, with both shows enjoying 18-episode seasons.
The announcement comes after the second season of Star premiered after Empire, and delivered its highest-rated telecast since its series debut.
Star, which now airs at 9 p.m. ET after Empire, follows three talented singers — played by Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, and Brittany O’Grady — as they navigate the cutthroat music business world on their way to success.
The show also stars Queen Latifah, Benjamin Bratt, Amiyah Scott, and Quincy Brown with Luke James, Evan Ross, Elijah Kelley and Keke Palmer set to recur this season.
