“It’s been fun putting it together. I kind of found a new passion,” he says of decorating his home, which features photos of Jimmy Hendrix and Marilyn Monroe.

Aside from introducing his pet cat, the singer shows off his home studio and expounds on the benefits of recording in solitude.

“I start everything here [in my studio] with ideas, and actually a lot of songs I’ve finished in here. It’s set up so I’m self-sufficient, and that’s kind of how I like it,” says Miguel. “For me it’s like, the solitude of being in your own home and comfortability and the amount of vulnerability you’re able to accomplish — you can’t compare that to the way it feels to be in a really sterile studio. It’s just a really comfortable place and that’s how I wanted the house to be in general.”

The singer’s upcoming album, tentatively titled Wild Heart, is due out this spring.
