Musiq Soulchild wants fans to know he’s still here and still making music

Courtesy of eOne MusicMusiq Soulchild is back with a brand-new album out today, called Feel the Real.  There’s a lot of music on this project, too.

The hip-hop soul artist tells ABC Radio why he decided to include 24 tracks on the double disc.

“I was actually working on this album before my last album, Life on Earth, on some songs that I’ve been sitting on for awhile. So, that paired with new songs that I came up with pretty much what contributed to it being 24 records,” he says.

Musiq continues, “I wanted it to come out fairly soon after Life on Earth just to let people know that I’m still here, I’m still making music. It’s still available to you.”

Besides the arrival of his highly-anticipated new studio project, the “Humble Pie” singer’s also working with new stars, such as Atlanta native Willie Hyn, and Kameelah “Meelah” Williams, best known as the lead singer of legendary R&B trio, 702.

“Shoutout to Meelah Williams,” Musiq says. “She’s an artist that I’m working with and we have a history together.”

Musiq and Meelah are co-parents to son Zac Johnson.

Musiq adds, “She’s starting a career as a solo artist now. I think that it’s important that she starts her journey in being her own thing and standing on her own because she has a whole lot of creative ideas and a whole lot of creative energy.”

Even while hard at work in the studio with other artists and on his new album, along with developing his DENIMOJI app and Soul Star music company, Musiq didn’t want to let his fans down with Feel the Real.

“I just wanted to be consistent with my mantra of making real music for real people in real time,” he says.
