ABC/Lou RoccoRihanna can do no wrong from a fashion standpoint if you ask designer Olivier Rousteing.
In a talk at the U.K.’s Vogue Festival, Balmain’s creative director praised RiRi by comparing her to some of the biggest fashion icons in music history.
“As an icon and inspiration, I think she’s the new Madonna, or the new Prince, the new David Bowie or the new Michael Jackson,” Rousteing says.
“What I love about these pop stars when it was ’90s or ’80s, they mixed menswear and womenswear and they did it pretty well,” says the designer. “Rihanna is the same way. She mixes menswear and womenswear and [gives] it this power…it’s great for fashion to see those mix.”
Rihanna and Rousteing have collaborated on several projects, including a Balmain campaign and a W magazine photo shoot alongside Iman and Naomi Campbell.
