Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images for Diamond BallDonald Glover performed as his musical alter ego Childish Gambino Thursday night at Rihanna’s fourth annual Diamond Ball gala in New York City, and on the red carpet, RiRi gushed over his music.
“[He] happens to be one of my favorites,” she told Billboard. “I’m listening to his music a lot.”
Gambino performed a 45-minute set, ending with “This Is America,” and his Grammy Award-winning “Redbone” from his 2016 album, Awaken, My Love,” according to Variety.
Rihanna and Glover have also been spotted together in Havana, Cuba, where they were reportedly shooting a new movie titled Guava Island.
The benefit, held at Cipirani Wall Street, was hosted by Issa Rae and also featured a performance by DJ Mustard. The event followed Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty Fashion Week show on Wednesday night, and the busy star says she loves constantly working.
“It’s just my soul,” she commented. “I can’t sit still, I get bored so I have to keep doing something.”
The nine-time Grammy Award winner has excelled in music, beauty and fashion, and she may be expanding her brand. When asked to reveal her next venture, Rihanna said, “Maybe furniture,” and added with a laugh, “I need time for that.”
Tiffany Haddish, A$AP Rocky, Gucci Mane, Trevor Noah, Gayle King, football star Odell Beckham Jr., baseball star CC Sabathia, actor Brian Tyree Henry from the Atlanta TV series, Normani, Meek Mill and Teyana Taylor were among the stars attending the event, which raised nearly $6 million for Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation.
