Sevyn Streeter addressed the status of her upcoming debut album while at the 2014 Soul Train Awards, airing this Sunday but taped earlier this month in Las Vegas. The singer says she feels no pressure for her first full-length studio effort, following the success of her Call Me Crazy But… EP, adding that the album’s first single is coming soon.

“I think that as long as you’re just as honest as you can possibly be when it comes to your music, that it will come out the right way every time, you know? So I just try to do that,” the singer tells ABC News Radio. “If I’m sad one day, I write about it. If I’m happy, if I want to go to a club but I can’t, then I’ll turn the studio into a club. That’s what I do and the song turns out that way. So no, I just had a really great time with this album. You know, I’ll have new music out in two seconds, I’m so anxious and, you know, I’m just excited.”

She also says that she may re-team with her “It Won’t Stop” collaborator Chris Brown. “You know, I can never see myself doing an album without Chris on my album. So I mean, I feel like that just has to happen,” she says.

Speaking of Brown, Sevyn reveals that she was excited for his big Soul Train Awards performance. “That’s my brother. I’m signed to him, so he’s performing, you know, and just to be his artist, I’m excited,” she says. “I’m nominated for Best New Artist and I’m presenting an award. Yeah, that’s family.”

This year’s Soul Train awards is set to air on November 30 on BET’s Centric channel.
