The singer reveals her philosophy in writing and producing an 18-track debut album. “If you were going to drive home and it was going to take an hour, I wanted it to last that long,” says the singer of her Aquarius LP. “Because it’s an experience.”
The magazine credits the singer for her “eruptive” music video for “All Hands on Deck.” Tinashe notes, “I wanted it to be like a movie, when they go to the club and have an epic dance battle. That’s what I was feeling.”
Elle’s Women in Music issue, featuring Taylor Swift on the cover, is out May 19.
