Joseph Okpako/WireImageTory Lanez is speaking out for the first time after being charged with assault in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting.

In a Tweet on Friday, Lanez responded to the charges from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, which include one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.

“[Time] will [tell] … and the truth will come to the light,” he wrote. “I have all faith in God to show that … love to all my fans and people that have stayed true to me & know my heart … a charge is not a conviction.”

“If you have supported me or meg thru this , I genuinely appreciate u,” he added.

Tory’s message comes less than a day after he was accused of shooting at an unnamed 24-year-old victim’s feet several times and wounding her. Although Megan Thee Stallion was not named, the details in this case match up with her original story about what took place on July 12.

As previously reported, Megan admitted she was in an SUV with Tory, and two other individuals in the Hollywood Hills. Weeks later during an Instagram Live, she named Tory as the person who shot her in both feet as she was exiting the vehicle after an argument, which resulted in her having surgery.

Tory denied shooting Megan on his DAYSTAR albumIf convicted, he faces 22 years and eight months in prison
