James Fortune was singing a different tune yesterday…guilty! The Grammy nominated Gospel music singer pleaded guilty to third degree felony assault as part a plea deal.
According to ABC-13 Houston News, in October 2014, Fortune “struck his wife with a wooden vanity stool, kicked her and threw her against a wall one night inside their Stafford, Texas home.”
His wife agreed to the plea deal to avoid having their kids testify a re-live the events of 2014.
Fortune was sentenced to five days in jail, five years probation, 175 hours of community service, he must also attend a “batterer’s intervention” program and he has been ordered to avoid all contact with his wife.
