New Texas Law Increases Age To Buy Cigarettes To 21

Texas  governor Greg Abbott has signed a bill into law  that raises the age to purchase tobacco products to 21. Starting September 1, 2019 the law will take effect and is to reduce the risk of addiction. The law exempts military family members.  The law if violated is a Class C misdemeanor and a fine of $500.

Texas joined several other state that have raised the age limit for tobacco.
