Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot wants to help minorities financially benefit from legal recreational marijuana. The proposal offers up to 15 million in tax-increment financing may serve as a jump board for them to buy into a city plan to open a cultivation center. Many minorities face the hurdle of having money to get into the recreational marijuana business. The idea of the city-owned cultivation center was first introduced by Mayor Lori Lightfoot in December. Lord knows we need something to level the playing field because POC are still serving harsh sentences for marijuana possession and others are getting rich off of legalization!
