Flu Remains Higher Risk In U.S. [WATCH]

by

As of this morning, China has reported 78,959 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 2,791 deaths. There have been 4,351 confirmed cases and 67 deaths in 49 other countries. While those numbers sound high, the flu remains a higher risk in the US. As of late February, this flu season has claimed 14,000 lives and has sickened more than 26 million in the US, resulting in 250,000 hospitalizations.  105 children have died and health officials say the flu season is now just nearing its peak. In addition to vaccination, regular hand washing with soap and hot water, coughing and sneezing into your elbow, staying home if you’re ill and using telehealth services instead of going to clinics or ER’s will help limit the spread. While these numbers are much more severe than the current COVID-19 outbreak, they aren’t vastly dissimilar to previous flu seasons.
