Dallas County Reports Record Single-Day COVID-19 Cases

by

Dallas County on Friday reported its highest number of new COVID-19 cases in a single day — just moments after the governor of Texas revealed plans to loosen restrictions and begin reopening the state’s businesses. The county reports 124 new coronavirus cases and five additional deaths between Thursday and Friday, marking its highest number of new cases in a single day since the pandemic began. There are now 2,190 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Dallas County, where at least 55 people have died. “Today’s numbers illustrate the importance of continuing to make good personal responsibility choices to flatten the curve,” says County Judge Clay Jenkins. The announcement came moments are Governor Greg Abbott held a press conference to unveil his plan for re-opening the state’s businesses, many of which will begin offering pickup and delivery services next week. Is the county being premature in lifting restrictions?
