Black and Hispanic Americans are dying from COVID-19 three times faster than White people are. The startling statistic, revealed Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, represents an increase in deaths of people of color; previously, the CDC reported Black Americans were dying twice as fast as White people were. “I hope that people will see that it’s not the virus that’s doing the discriminating,” says Dr. Leana Wen, Baltimore’s former health commissioner. “It’s our systems.”
