R. Kelly’s ‘Key to the City’ Honor In Baton Rouge Taken Away

by

In light of the R.Kelly guilty verdict the R & B Singer is starting to see the fallout from this week’s guilty verdict.  Baton Rouge, Louisiana has taken the key to the city away from R. Kelly. Denise Marcell gave Kelly the key back in 2013 as a member of the Baton Rouge city council. After R. Kelly’s conviction Marcell says she feels bad for giving the key to R. Kelly and is working to rescind it. Marcell isn’t able to take back the plaque and key from the anger, however the honor that comes along with it will be stripped. Even though Marcell isn’t on the city council any longer, she still holds the power to strip the key from Kelly because she was the one who gave it to him.

Robert Kelly was found guilty on all charges including sexual exploitation of a child, bribery, kidnapping, racketeering and sex trafficking. Federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of New York successfully proved to a jury of seven men and five women that the singer has been the head of a criminal enterprise, preying on young girls and luring them into his world of sexual and emotional abuse.
