The judge has set November 16, 2021 as the trial date for Aaron Dean according to Tarrant County court records. The former Fort Worth police officer has been charged with fatally shooting Atatiana Jefferson while she was at her mother’s home. On October 12, 2019 Atatiana was babysitting her nephew when a neighbor called a non-emergency number to report a door appeared to be open.  The officer was in the family’s backyard shot into the home killing Atatiana.

The officer was charged with murder and resigned. It has been two years and the journey for justice is long overdue. A gag order was issued last year preventing prosecutors and defense attorneys from making public statement about the case.
