Four Louisville police officers involved in the death of Breonna Taylor are now facing federal charges. In March of 2020, Taylor was fatally shot while police executed a ‘no-knock’ raid on her apartment. U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland says the officers violated civil rights laws, including lying to obtain a search warrant and obstructing the investigation into the raid. Neither of the officers who shot Taylor were named in the indictment. Police should be held accountable for misconduct and recklessness.
