Two Black Tennessee State Reps Expelled For Protesting Gun Control, White Colleague Was Not

(AP Photo/George Walker IV) Three Democratic Representative in Tennessee were singled out and were supposed to be expelled for violating decorum rules. When the vote was taken on the floor only two of them, two Black men were expelled and the white representative Gloria Johnson was not. All three participated in a protest led by students and parents, after a horrific school shooting a week earlier in Nashville.

This stunt was outrageous and the ousted lawmakers’ have been celebrated across the nation for their courage.
