Fugees’ Rapper Pras Michel Convicted in Foreign Influence Case

(AP Photo/Andrew Harnik, File) The Justice Department announced that a founding member of the hip-hop group the Fugees, Prakazrel Michel, also known as Pras, was convicted in federal court on Wednesday, April 26, of leading an international conspiracy that used millions of dollars’ worth of foreign money for illegal lobbying and campaign donations. According to court documents, Michel, who collected millions of dollars for his involvement in the scams, was found guilty on 10 criminal counts, including money laundering, illegal lobbying, witness tampering, and violations of campaign financing laws. He could face a maximum 20-year prison sentence.
