The name change will be official after his next album. His Twitter and Instagram are now under “Abel Tesfaye,” the artist previously revealed that “The Weeknd” stage name was given to him after dropping out of school and leaving with his mattress one weekend and never coming back home.  The reason the name is missing the “e” was to avoid a copyright issue with the Canadian band “The Weekend.”
