Anthony Nesty Becomes First Black U.S. Olympics Head Swimming Coach

(AP Photo/Michael Conroy, File) Olympic swimming gold medalist, Anthony Nesty made history again when it was announced Thursday that he will lead the U.S. men’s swimming team in Paris. Coach Nesty was born on the Caribbean Island of Trinidad and later moved to Suriname, when became the first Black male swimmer to win an Olympic gold medal in the 100-metre butterfly in 1988 at the Soeul Games. Nesty is the current University of Florida swim coach.
