Tyler Perry Says Bidding Process For Buying BET Was ‘Disrespectful’

FILE – Tyler Perry arrives at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Beverly Hills, Calif., on March 27, 2022.  (Photo by Evan Agostini/Invision/AP, File) Tyler Perry is sounding off on how he felt the bidding process for BET went down.  According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (via The Hollywood Reporter) Perry said that he was “disappointed” in how Paramount Global handled the potential sale of BET, including the original channel, BET+, BET Studios, and VH1.   Perry said, “I was disappointed about it for a number of reasons. The way it happened was disrespectful in a lot of ways.”  Perry added, “Don’t try to get me to pay for something that’s not worth anywhere near the value” Paramount said it was worth. He also added that he would not reconsider if Paramount put BET up for sale again.
