David Letterman says goodbye tonight!

After more than 33 years on television, David Letterman is saying goodbye. The host of Late Show with David Letterman’s final show airs tonight and is expected to feature lots of clips and many surprises.

During his many years on late night TV, Letterman who got his start in show business as a comedy writer for Jimmy ‘JJ’ Walker has hosted some of the biggest names in black entertainment including Denzel Washington, Oprah Winfrey, and Kevin Hart. President Obama has also made several appearances on the show.

Letterman also gave a lot of black singers exposure including Whitney Houston who was on his show at the start of her career and Ft. Worth’s God’s Property who had their first major national TV appearance on his show. Mary J. Blige and Aretha Franklin were also frequent quests on Letterman’s show.

The final ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ airs tonight at 10:30 on CBS11!
