Paul Quinn College’s major plan to reduce tuition

by

Paul Quinn College in Oak Cliff is announcing a plan to cut tuition and make education accessible to more members of the community. School president Michael Sorrell says that the plan is to reduce tuition at the historically black college by $10,000 for most students.

“The message that our students brought to us was that they simply needed us to be more creative in helping them pay for college,” Sorrell said.

The campus is moving to a work-college system in the fall. According to Sorrell, students will get tuition incentives through jobs on campus and off-campus, coupled with the Pell grants most currently receive.

Administrators believe the creative tuition assistance programs could help retain and attract more students to Paul Quinn College.
