Kehlani releases self-directed video for Everybody business

by

Arturo TorresContinuing her consistent streak of quarantine-style videos, Kehlani takes us out of the house with last month’s “Toxic” to her backyard for her new single, “Everybody business.”

The video opens by referencing her previous relationship with rapper YG earlier this year, later detailing their breakup on “Valentine’s Day (Shameful.)” Good to know Kehlani’s still practicing social distancing as she walks around her neighborhood in the self-directed video, taking on every headline and rumor about herself.

Kehlani recalled writing the sultry ballad in a room with artists Destin Conrad and Trinidad James, and producers Go Grizzly and Los Hendrix, incorporating Pharrell William’s “Frontin.”

“I remember saying the first line and all of us knowing it was going to be one of the ones,” she revealed about the song on Instagram.

“The way we all laughed, got silent, nodded our heads, walked around in circles. When I was nervous to sing the hook out loud because I didn’t know if they would think I was hilarious for flipping Pharrell’s “Frontin” in a guitar ballad,” she wrote.

Kehlani is not letting the COVID-19 pandemic stop her from releasing new music that she “felt, lived, breathed and made.”
