Beyoncé selected “Partition” as the third single from her fifth solo album, a song that made headlines for its sexually-charged lyrics. It also caught the attention of one woman who’s made some headlines of her own: Monica Lewinsky.
Bill Clinton‘s former mistress mentions the lyric specifically in an article she wrote for Vanity Fair about the public humiliation she’s endured over the past decade. Referring to the line, “He popped all my buttons, and he ripped my blouse/He Monica Lewinsky’d all on my gown,” Lewinsky clarifies, “Thanks, Beyoncé, but if we’re verbing, I think you meant ‘Bill Clinton’d all on my gown,’ not ‘Monica Lewinsky’d.'”
Monica adds, “It’s time to burn the beret and bury the blue dress.” She also says, “I, myself, deeply regret what happened between me and President Clinton. Let me say it again: I. Myself. Deeply. Regret. What. Happened.”
