Law enforcement is asking the public in Baton Rouge to remain indoors and avoid the area were the deadly shooting occurred earlier on Sunday leaving 3 police officer’s dead. We have learned that one officer is the son of a former Grambling State University Football player. Hosea Jackson who still lives in the Baton Rouge area and was a member of the GSU Football team in the 1980’s, lost his son today in the police ambush. Montrell Jackson is a member of the Baton Rouge Police force and was gunned down in the ambush early Sunday morning . One suspect is dead and two in custody.
3:30pm: Police have detained two men that police say, were dressed in all black and had changed clothes at a local Walmart and left in a silver Nissan with Texas tags.
4:00pm: NBC reports that the shooter is 29-year-old Gavin Long of Kansas City. Missouri and has ties to Sovereign Citizens Group.
5:00pm: Baton Rouge Police believe the dead suspect is the only gunman.
5:30pm: Officials have released the names of the fallen Baton Rouge Police Officers that died in the ambush early Sunday morning as Officer Matthew Gerald (41), and Officer Montrell Jackson (32).
6:00pm: Investigators think the slain officers were “lured” into an ambush
6:25 pm: Suspected shooter Gavin Long was a former Marine according to CNN
