To Make Audiences Care In a recent interview with Mic Magazine, Issa Rae shared a conversation she had with a colleague in 2011 while working on her web series, The Misadventure of Awkward Black Girl. She said, it was put in my mind that you had to have a white character to be a bridge and for people to care for it to get awards.
