Michelle Obama is opening up about Donald Trump’s Inauguration Day.
In a new interview, the former first lady said the day was “so emotional for so many different reasons” and went on to explain, “We were leaving the home we had been in for eight years, the only home our kids really knew.”
Mrs. Obama also said there was a noticeable lack of diversity at Trump’s inaugural ceremony, that brought her to tears.
She said, “To sit on that stage and watch the opposite of what we represented on display — there was no diversity, there was no color on that stage. There was no reflection of the broader sense of America. When those [Air Force One] doors shut, I cried for 30 minutes straight, uncontrollable sobbing, because that’s how much we were holding it together for eight years.”
Obama also took a shot at the size of President Donald Trump’s inauguration crowd noting, “There weren’t many people there.”
