Today Aaliyah would have turned 38 year old. Her talented life may have been cut short by that dreadful plane crash in 2001, but her influence on music and style lives on. When I was on the radio in Detroit, I remember taking a cassette of “Back-n-Forth” into my Program Director’s office and begging him to let me play it on my radio show. The quality wasn’t that good but I got the approval and a cease a desist, the rest is history.
Rest in Peace my dear Aaliyah Dana Haughton, we miss you.
