Las Vegas police said they have made an arrest, Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, for the first time in the 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur. (AP Photo/Frank Wiese, File) Nearly 30 years later, police have made an arrest in the 1996 death of rapper Tupac Shakur. Duane ‘Keffe D’ Davis was arrested Friday morning in Las Vegas.  Charges have not yet been announced. Davis has long been rumored to be tied to Shakur’s death – and has even mentioned it himself in interviews and a memoir he wrote in 2019. In July, police raided his home in Henderson, NV –  taking computers, photographs, and other evidence. Shakur was killed in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on Sept. 7th, 1996, at the age of 25. If Davis really is Tupac’s killer, why wasn’t an arrest made before now.
