Blood Pressure Medication Recalled for 4th Time

by

In a move that could very well make users’ heart rates rise, an Indiana pharmaceuticals company has recalled a popular blood pressure medication for the fourth time. Torrent Pharmaceuticals has issued a recall for 36 additional lots of Losartan potassium tablets and 68 lots of Losartan Potassium/Hydrochlorothiazide tablets after traces of N-Methylnitrosobutyric acid, a cancer-causing carcinogen, were found in the medication. The FDA is warning patients who take the drug to contact their doctors before discontinuing the medication. Does it alarm you that a cancer-causing carcinogen can somehow slip into medicine? Should the FDA launch an investigation into the company before allowing them to distribute new pills?
