Nashville Museum

It’s taken 20 years to complete but the National Museum of African American Music has opened in Nashville.  The museum offers seven galleries and includes artifacts from various historical periods starting with the 1600s.  One of the items is a platinum record that belonged to Marvin Gaye, another item is Louis Armstrong’s trumpet, also on display is Ella Fitzgerald’s Grammy.  A spokesperson for the museum stated “We’re not focusing on one genre of music or one type of artist, we’re really taking a look at what was the impact on African Americans once they entered the country, and how did that birth what we know now as Black music”.  What era of music interests you the most? What artist would you want to learn about at the National Museum of African American Music?
