Chaka Khan apologizes for her Rolling Stone Greatest Singers statements.
The 69-year-old iconic singer apologized on social media over the weekend and clarified her position on the list.
If you missed it, Chaka was asked about Rolling Stone’s ranking and her thoughts on others higher than her. Chaka was ranked number 29 out of 200 and was listed below Adele, Beyonce, and Mariah Carey.
“Recently, I was asked about a list of the ‘greatest singers of all time,’ and instead of questioning the need for such a list, I was pitted against other artists, and I took the bait,” Chaka Khan shared on Instagram. “As artists, we are unfairly put into ‘boxes,’ ‘categories,’ or on ‘lists.’ Being an artist or musician is not a competition. It’s a gift for which I am truly grateful.”
