Serena Williams Interested In Owning WNBA Team

(Photo by Richard Shotwell/Invision/AP, File) Serena Williams has her eyes on the WNBA. The retired tennis legend told CNN she would be “super interested” in owning a WNBA franchise. Serena says the investment would be “no risk”, pointing out that “more people watched the college women’s basketball than the men.” It would likely boost the WNBA’s profile if Serena owned a team. Before her retirement from tennis Serena has invested in 66 start-up ventures including 16 unicorn companies valued at $1 billion. Nearly 78% of Serena’s start-up company investments have benefited women and people of color.
